JANUARY 24 -28 2020

This masterclass is designed for beginning, intermediate and advanced conductors under the guidance of Maestro Eduardo Browne, Artistic Director of the Camerata Universidad de los Andes, Director of Ensembles at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile and a graduate of The Juilliard School, where he was a disciple of the legendary Maestro Otto-Werner Mueller.
Eduardo Browne was assistant to Michael Tilson-Thomas and Christoph Eschenbach at Pacific Music Festival, Resident Conductor of Fort Worth Symphony in Texas for 3 seasons and has had an extensive career as a symphonic and operatic director in the US, Malaysia, Philippines, Venezuela, Peru and Chile.

4. Number of students and cost of the Masterclass: the Masterclass is designed for 12 students. Its cost amounts to CLP $ 498,000 (four hundred ninety eight thousand Chilean pesos) or, in the case of international students, in its equivalent in US dollars at the time of payment.

5. Auditors: up to 6 auditors (ages 13 and up) can be accepted. Each auditor may:
a. attend the whole seminar and participate in all activities: conducting and analysis classes, theory and body/theatrical sessions, so that the general education for a conductor can be envisioned.
b. conducting a work for 10 minutes with the string quartet on the second day of the Masterclass.
c. conducting the same work for 10 minutes with the string nonet the third day of the seminar.
The value of the seminar for auditors amounts to $ 71,000 (seventy one thousand pesos).
6. Repertoire: the repertoire includes orchestral works of varied styles and composers that can be played by a string quartet. In some cases of more complex works, Maestro Eduardo Browne has made arrangements that allow the main voices of the work to be covered by the instruments of the quartet. In addition, all participants must conduct an operatic recitative or an aria, depending on their conducting level. The repertoire is assigned by Maestro Eduardo Browne once the video has been received, which allows him to assess the level of the participant. It is acceptable for the students to prepare more works than those assigned or suggest a work that they want to conduct. Examples of works to be conducted:

- Mozart: Symphony n. 35 “Haffner”, movement 1, exposition
